This is the best place to get vegan baked goods in the Twin Cities. We love their cupcakes, cakes, lemon loafs, cookies, and cheddar biscuits. I miss their uptown location where we could have broccoli cheese soup and pastrami sandwiches, but this is still great. Today I got a strawberry cupcake with a creme frosting and a strawberry filling and it was one of the best cupcakes I've ever had. I hope they make more of these kind of cupcakes in the future. The only problem we've had with this place is the hours. Recently, I wanted to order a vegan cake for a Tuesday event at my work, but they don't open until noon that day, so I had to get frozen cupcakes instead. Many times we've wanted a cake or cupcakes for a holiday or event and the hours haven't worked for us to pick it up so we end up going to Whole Foods or getting the item many days in advance and having to freeze them, which is never as good as fresh. I get they need a day off, but I still wish there was a way to pick up orders at more convenient days or hours.

Vegan East is renowned for its delectable Carrot Cake, which is a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth. Their cupcakes come in a variety of mouth-watering flavors, including Cookie Dough and Red Velvet. Don't miss their Gluten Free Cosmic Brownies – they're a perfect treat for any brownie lover. What's more, all their treats are 100% vegan, meaning they are free from any animal products. This makes Vegan East a fantastic destination for those who follow a plant-based diet or anyone looking to enjoy delicious, cruelty-free goodies. If you're in Minneapolis, make sure to stop by Vegan East and treat yourself – your taste buds will thank you!

I'm not vegan and I don't have any dietary restrictions. I bought my birthday cake here to accommodate dairy intolerant family. It was one of the best cakes I've ever had. Definitely better than most non-vegan cakes. I returned to buy cupcakes for a family gathering and the family members who normally say they aren't into sweets scarfed them down and proceeded to rave about them.

A friend brought over some cupcakes from Vegan East and although I was skeptical at first, I quickly fell in love after the first bite!! I have no idea how they make these cupcakes so delicious and keep it vegan, but I am genuinely impressed and will gladly support their work. I am not vegan and these desserts would be my first choice to bring to a gathering, especially if I wanted to impress some people.

This is the only place I go for vegan and gluten free baked goods. I'm dangerously addicted to their cupcakes, which have the perfect balance of frosting and cake. While the homemade strawberry pop tarts are still deliciously flaky, the jam filling has changed. It used to be a tart contrast to the sweet frosting. Recently the filling has been too sweet, making the balance overwhelmingly sweet.

Vegan East is one of those places that makes you forget you’re even eating vegan. Everything tastes indulgent in the best way, like full-on bakery magic with zero compromise. The cupcakes are fluffy, the frosting is rich without being overly sweet, and there’s always something fun in the case that makes it impossible to order just one thing. The vibe is cute and cozy, and you can tell they genuinely care about what they’re making. Whether you’re dairy free or just in it for a good dessert, this spot absolutely delivers. The cupcakes were perfect… right up until I tripped walking to my car lol. Totally worth it though.

At first, it’s hard to believe this tiny shop exists within this neighborhood. It is a tiny store in general, and it is tiny when you walk in. It’s not set up to dazzle you in anyway. It’s actually quite confusing that they have product to sell, unless you search them online and order a cake and already know that they’re making you something great. The cake I ordered – the chocolate cake, in the 5 inch size was delicious and pleased my dad very much. It was for his birthday which I will not be in town for. So an early surprise. I would definitely surprise him with a cake from here when I’m visiting Minneapolis again.

My daughter picked out a vanilla cake for our au pair's birthday today. It was very moist and the frosting was light and delicious! The owner was very sweet and welcoming, asked where our au pair was from, and gave helpful instructions on how to thaw the cake since it was frozen. I never would have guessed it was vegan had I not known. So glad to have a local bakery that specializes in vegan and GF cakes!

Great little bakery with delicious cakes and cupcakes. As a dairy-free family, we appreciate that everything is vegan and that they offer gluten free options as well! I think this place shines with pre-orders, though they do have some baked items for sale (think individual cupcakes, etc) for walk-in clientele.

I needed a last-minute vegan birthday cake and Vegan East absolutely came through for us. Not only was the cake beautiful, it was genuinely one of the best cakes I’ve had - vegan or not. It was moist, flavorful, and a huge hit at the party. Considering this was a last-minute order, I was blown away by both the quality and presentation. Truly saved the day for our celebration. Highly recommend!
