If you're Pakistani/Indian and crave authentic, delicious, fresh desi food, THIS is an amazing place. My husband and I love the butter chicken at level 2, and the gosht banjara, level 2. Absolutely satisfying!! And with garlic naan and raita? OMG amazing. Every friend we have taken here loved the food. It's hard for me to be genuinely impressed with desi restaurants since I've grown up with the best of the best, but this one actually earns the prize as a top contender for best Indian food in Minneapolis so far. It's our go to! We take our parents, friends, and co-workers and they all say it was good for the soul.
Mango lassi was quite tangy and on the thicker side. Very pronounced yogurt flavor. Still very good. The vegetable samosas smelled great with crispy outside. The inside is mostly mushed together. Good seasoning but not as much depth, some bites were more flavorful than others. The sauces are decent, milder than I was expecting. Overall still tasty but not bite consistent. The garlic smelled very garlicy. It's flaky and soft with a nice bit of char. The chicken tikka masala was flavorful. The chicken well cooked but not dry. Definitely more veggies in the sauce than expected. Level 2 spice was good medium high ground for minnesota spice. The lamb saag had super tender lamb, don't taste the spinach as much as I was expecting. Mildly flavored but there is a depth there. It was still decent but not a crowd favorite compared to masala. Good portion of rice.
The food was delicious. The staff were great. Appetizer platter, two entrees (rice included with entrees), naan, and two drinks came out to ~$85 after taxes and tip The restaurant was pretty bare, only us and one or two other tables at 5:30 pm on a Tuesday, but they had a lot of delivery drivers picking up orders and seemed busy that way. The whole place smelled amazing. Everything was very fresh. Naan was crisp and chewy. Chicken and lamb was tender. Everything was well seasoned, although the vindaloo wasn’t quite as sharp as I’ve had elsewhere.
Wow!! My first time in Minneapolis and I was encouraged to try this restaurant. I am speechless! The naan was out of this world! So garlicky and delicious. The Chicken 65... wow!! So yummy, sweet, and the chicken was sooo tender. Definitely get this dish!! I also got the chicken tikka starter. The portion size was well worth the price! Cant wait to come back when im in the area again!! Excellent food!
I ordered take out today with chicken tikka masala and garlic naan and both were fantastic! Perfectly cooked basmati rice, rich and flavorful chicken tikka, and delicious garlicky naan. Truly nothing to be desired! And the customer service was also very friendly and welcoming! Definitely recommend, and I will certainly be returning.
Ajay is the reason I will be coming back. I always get the chicken 65 at least once a week, and last time it wasn’t good I thought I wouldn’t be back anymore and was disappointed because this was my favorite chicken. However, I came back to give it another chance and it was amazing all because my server that knows me was there and I told him what happens he took care of it completely and the chicken was better than ever. Thank you Ajay! And I seriously recommend their chicken 65!
I visited Gorkha Palace on 2/10/2025 at 7:24 pm. There were two guys there who helped me navigate the extensive menu (they have a lot of options) I usually get the chicken tikka masala, but I wanted to venture out. One of the servers told me that there is a Nepali section and guided me through the flavors and helped me me make a choice. I cannot tell you the exquisite blend of flavors, variance and overall experience! This place is a hidden gem! I highly recommend to anyone who is in town. Great Service, excellent food, clean. Do not be afraid to try recommendations. This place is amazing! Thank you for a marvelous experience, just what I needed after a long day of work!
I've only ordered takeout so I can't speak to the service or the atmosphere. The food is amazing! Really hits the spot. The staff seem very friendly and helpful when I've interacted with them for takeout orders. Looking forward to ordering again! Their parking lot makes it convenient to visit their location.
I had an amazing experience at Gorkha Palace! The food was absolutely delicious—authentic flavors, perfectly spiced, and served fresh. The service was top-notch; the staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making the dining experience even better. A special shoutout to Anil, the owner—he’s incredibly welcoming and ensures that every guest feels at home. Whether you’re craving traditional cuisine or just looking for a great meal, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back again! Highly recommend!
I used to love this place, but it was more of a special occasion spot due to pricing. Now it’s under new ownership and the prices have dropped significantly, but the food is very tasty. Would highly recommend the veg korma, samosa chaat, and the garlic naan. All very tasty! I do miss the Navarratan korma from the old menu, but I think the lower prices makes this a place I’ll come back more often! Thanks for the tasty meal!
