Summit-University

Grand Avenue's beloved Mediterranean kitchen serves filling vegetarian fare that satisfies meat-eaters and plant-lovers alike. The falafel here is hard to beat—crispy exterior, fluffy interior, perfectly spiced. The roasted veggie bowl is a close second, heaped with zucchini, squash, cauliflower, chickpeas, and red peppers on fragrant saffron rice. Don't skip the hummus, especially the 'fancy' version topped with fried chickpeas and a drizzle of olive oil. Casual atmosphere, generous portions, fair prices.

Khyber Pass Cafe closed in November 2022 after 37 years as one of the most beloved Afghan restaurants in Saint Paul. The kaddo bowrani, vegetable mantu, and leek aushak were local favorites. The space transitioned to other tenants after the closure.
