Love Afrodeli - my coworkers took me to the skyway location for lunch. It was really good and the portions were way too big for lunch. Every time I travel to MSP, I order from Afrodeli. Love the samosas, falafel and wraps. This time I tried a bowl which was also delicious. I normally choose beef as my protein and this time I also tried a side of chicken. A little dry, but rich flavors.
One of my favorite restaurants around campus if not my favorite... Best sweet potato fries in the world. Chicken fantastic (pictured) and chicken curry are highlights, somali steak sandwich is also great. Been here many times and it's incredibly consistent.
Afro Deli is one of my favorite places to eat. The sambusas are delicious. I've also had the chicken gyros, Somali steak sandwich, and a vegetable and rice dish. They have all been good, and I highly recommend it. It's a small place, but there usually is a table or two open.
Everyone in Minneapolis should know this spot! Diverse menu with tons of great options. The curry chicken is my personal favorite, but I haven’t had anything had. Make sure to check out the Somali Tea if going on a cold day. Service is always amazing, with a real family restaurant feel. Love to see that business has been going well for them with more locations opening!
This place is bomb. Everything I've eaten here was phenomenal. Chicken Fantastic, Afro Steak Dinner, sambusas, salad, fries. These guys have a passion for good food and it shows! Thank you!
Great take-out! Portions are massive for the price point, and food is very fast. I ordered online for my first time trying the place. When I came to the location, the guy handling the orders was very fast and polite. He did seem surprised to see me tip, though. Told him I did it in cash so it couldn't get taxxed, and it was a pleasant exchange. When I turned to leave, though, someone immediately tried to solicit me for money. I was going to give her a few dollars too, since I know times are rough. However, the gyro guy somehow materialized behind me and immediately told the woman that she could not solicit money in the deli and that the kitchen would make her food. It got to the point where he was kind of guiding her gaze towards the counter so I could leave with my sandwich. I have never been in a scenario where I've seen a guy move so fast. I have further never been in a situation where a guy was that resolute after I tipped in cash. Probably gonna become a regular just for that, though. That was a crazy-nice thing to do for someone he just met, and I respect him a lot for also getting that lady food. The sandwich itself is REAL good, though. I love a lot of tzaziki sauce on my sandwich, so the bread-to-sauce-to-meat ratio is perfect for me. I'm also small, so this was easily 2 meals for me. It's great if you don't have much money and need to eat a lot of meat. The tiramisu is also really good. The only downside I can think of is the deli at Stadium Village is small, so plan to have 3 people in your party tops if you want to eat in-person. Worth at least one try in my book, but for me, I love it. Nothing beats a good, huge box of food made by folks who keep the world spinning with their attitudes. Hope this place remains open forever.
I was staying in the University of Minnesota and this place was a life saver when I did not want to eat in the dining hall. Their falafel sandwich was genuinely some of the best falafel I have ever had and their fries were undoubtedly the best fries I have ever had. The service was super quick and we got our food in under 10 minutes consistently. The staff was super friendly and the restaurant had a great atmosphere to it. Would strongly recommend if you are in the area!
I recently tried Afro Deli for the first time, I ordered the Gyro Jabati wrap. It costed around 13 dollars after taxes. The service was good, however it took around 6-10 minutes to recieve the food. With the meal it came with fries but there was no drink included. (There is free water though) The atmosphere was nice, seating is a little limited but the space they did have was excellent. My problem however is with the food itself, I had high expectations for Afro Deli. Ive heard about their operations for around a decade now and expected the food to be Excellent. I am also very familiar with Somali Cuisine. The fries were great but the wrap its self had a few key problems which greatly impacted the experience, and I am not a picky eater at all. Unfortunately, the wrap was overfilled with Tzatiki sauce which blinded all other aspects of the wrap, also the rice was dry. The Jabati itself was great condition and the gyro meat was great too. The given sauce container which I think was a spicy mayo was good too. Overall the food I got here was better than most places but it did not meet my expectations. Every other aspect was expected and tolerated.
I was staying at the Graduate Hilton hotel that is very close to this restaurant during a trip to Minneapolis in July 2025. One evening, a couple of friends and I decided to have dinner there. When we went, there was a small crowd. We immediately got a table and ordered four dishes. The food came pretty soon and were plentiful. Each dish was very tasty. Also, it was unbelievably cheap. We were very happy with our meal and would gladly go back there.
A great on-campus spot when you need something quick and affordable. The space is pretty small so you'll have to squeeze if you are bringing a crowd. I ALWAYS rave about their chicken fantastic and sweet potato fries, both are my absolute go-to's and I find myself craving them frequently. Highly recommend for the amazing food and quick service
