About
Chef TG Feyisa brings heart, heritage, and serious culinary skill to her exclusively vegan Ethiopian restaurant. Traditional dishes are reimagined with plant-based ingredients: beef tibs become tender rosemary mushrooms with peppers, doro wot transforms into crispy shimbra asa (chickpeas in berbere sauce). The sampler platters are perfect for sharing, featuring sambusa (lentil-filled pastries), foule (crushed fava beans), and hearty lentil stews. Everything is scooped up with airy injera flatbread. The cozy Franklin Avenue spot is ideal for sipping ginger tea or telba (Ethiopian flaxseed drink).

This restaurant is a must-visit for vegans and non-vegans! I stumbled upon it during a conference visit and have since made it a regular stop whenever Iβm in Minneapolisβsometimes even multiple times. The food is incredible, the drinks are delicious, and the owner has an amazing memory. She not only remembered me months between visits but also my order!
Absolutely delicious food, cozy atmosphere, great service, reasonable prices. I highly recommend this restaurant to vegans and non-vegans alike. The food is hearty and scrumptious, and the staff was very inviting and attentive. They had a great selection, including drinks, appetizers, main meals, and desserts. They even sell a few products, I picked up a spice blend that looks amazing.
Took my picky 15-year old son to try Lulu EthioVegan Cuisine. He typically sticks to Impossible Burgers and Mac and Cheese. He loved the food here! So did I. We ordered Sambusas and the Medium Veggie Sampler. Everything was delicious. This seems to be a family-run business and you can tell they put a lot of care into the service and the food. Can't wait to go back.
I've had Ethiopian food at a few different places and Lulu's is my favorite. They have the traditional dishes you'd expect served with injera (lentils, split peas, potatoes, green beans, etc.) cooked with excellent spices. They also have some other diverse Mediterranean and American dishes like falafel, hummus, and a vegan burger. The sweet potato fries in particular are some of the best I've ever had; almost as tender as yams with a satisfying crisp. They also have some vegan desserts like cupcakes, brownies, and (honey-free) baklava. The cuisine is naturally very vegan-friendly, but being able to have everything on the menu is a further plus.
This food was so DELICIOUS! The flavors were on point and the presentation absolutely beautiful. This was my first experience with Ethiopian food but it's definitely going to be my weekend treat. If you're looking for vegetarian food that speaks to your soul, fills your tummy, and makes you forget that you're normally a carnivore This is the place to go. We had the family plate that had all the main course dishes and honestly only one item that didn't work for me but I can definitely see where others would love it. I'm not going to name that dish, but please believe everything else on that platter plus the hummus made up for it. Please go and check them out you won't regret it!
Wish I wouldβve discovered this place years ago! I ordered the four veggie combo to go and cannot believe how much amazing food I got for $20. They give PLENTY of injera and a fresh green salad too. I was greeted with a big heart-warming smile from the woman behind the counter and it honestly made my day!
Lulu's was amazing, and really appreciate it's all VEGAN. π± Owner's son greeted me & took my order; helped me narrow down my options, as there really is so much to choose from, even helped me figure out how to order smaller version of certain menu items, so I could try more dishes. Lulu herself brought out my main dish, and she was so sweet & kind. Everything came out fast, yet everything was super fresh, super hot & full of flavor. π₯ Super impressed! It was my first time, but I will definitely be back. Thank you, Lulu & fam! π
The best Ethiopian food ever. And it's vegan. So tasty and the portions were huge. Order the sampler and you will not go wrong with any of the chef choices. We had a late dinner that concluded with a delightful conversation with the owner. Highly recommend Lulu to anyone interested in East African cuisine.
This restaurant is all vegan. And the food is very good. I tried Sambusa appetizer which is good, next Awaze tibs which I normally don't see in another Ethiopian restaurant, i took the risk to try it and its ok for my tastebuds. I tried the baklava here as its rare to find a vegan baklava. They are all good
Minneapolis has many options for Ethiopian food, and Lulu is the best of them all. Fantastic food and superb customer service. The owner made time to chat with us and tell us all about the restaurant's history. This is a must-visit for anyone living in or visiting the Twin Cities area!
