In my humble opinion, this is the best and most excellent ice cream in the MSP area. Unfortunately for us, there’s only one more week until they close permanently (01Oct, 2023). :( I do not live in MSP, but I’m here a few times every year, for @ a 30 day stretch each time. I first tried them 4 years ago, and they’ve been consistently amazing across the years. I just spent the past six weeks in MSP, and I tried my best to come here at least every other day knowing it’d be my last Crepe & Spoon tastings ever. The owner had expressed his desire to close a couple of years ago, but luckily he prolonged what would eventually be the inevitable. This time it seems like it’s the real deal. So one last trip down memory lane before they close their doors forever. How does Crepe & Spoon stand out from the rest? The innovative flavors, the quality, the creaminess, the consistency, the gluten-free waffle cones, and the fact that EVERYTHING IS VEGAN!! I’ve brought quite a few non-vegans here and they were none the wiser. They have much more than just ice cream, as their name suggests, but helado is what I always gravitated towards. Everything slaps; even the classics like vanilla and chocolate were top tier. However, my top 3 are: Pumpkin Bar - sweet & creamy pumpkin flavor with the right amount of spice; perfect for autumn. Pairs well with leggings and flannel. Lemon Bar - tastes just like the homemade ice cream that my abuela used to make when I was little. Irresistibly inviting! As per my video on my ig page, I snagged the last drop of this throwback fav. No regrets! COOOOOKIEEEE MOOOONSTERRRRR!!!! As a child who grew up watching Sesame Street, I could relate to Cookie Monster and his afeccionado for cookies (or anything sweet, tbvh). My love for their Cookie Monster ice cream was instantaneous; blue lips and all! On this last hurrah, the owner surprised us by adding some chocolate fudge into the recipe, and OMG!!! It was what I never knew I wanted or needed in this mixture! Give me 3 scoops, please!! So if you’re anywhere near the MSP area, make sure to stop by Crepe and Spoon before 01Oct, and buy them out of everything that remains: crepes, ice cream, shakes and other drinks, comic books, stickers, shirts, and more! Check their ig page for last call flavor announcements. And best of luck to Michael and his staff on their future endeavors!
Believe the hype: This is the best vegan ice cream in the metro and beyond. It’s made fresh from scratch right on site. Whether you like the classics (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry) or you have a more adventurous inclination (rose water cardamom, earl gray bergamot) — your palette will be happy. Be sure to try the crepes! This place does its savory as well as its sweet. We loved the cheeze steak and ham-n-cheeze.
First time in this little shop. Atmosphere is super cute and friendly. The staff was amazing and I believe their entire menu is vegan! Huge plus for me :). I tried the vegan vanilla ice cream which was really good, and the cocoa banana crepe. So much to say about this crepe! First of all, it was served quickly and so hot and fresh I had to wait 20 min for it to cool off enough! It holds heat very well 😂. The crepe was huge and served in a pizza shaped cardboard sleeve. Absolutely delicious. Plenty of filling and overall just a lot of crepe! Would absolutely recommend and will be back to try more menu items!
The ice cream at Crepe and Spoon is honestly the best I have ever had. I am vegan, but I have taken plenty of my omnivore friends and family there, and they agree. It’s amazingly good! Even in this past winter, which was insanely cold, I found myself craving their pistachio ice cream lol! I couldn’t find anything anywhere that even came close to it. I was so happy for warm weather and their reopening!!
I've been eating vegan ice cream for 9 years, and while there is a lot of good ice cream out there, Crepe and Spoon's is by far the creamiest ice cream I have eaten since going dairy free 9 years ago. The flavors were creative and delicious too! I had the ube and the cardamom with cinnamon and molasses swirl. Delicious. I only recently found out about this place, and wish I'd know about it sooner. We will be back to try their crepes - butter, cinnamon, and the ham & cheese all look great - and to have more ice cream. 5/5, will be back. Oh! And when we walked in the place smelled amazing - they were making their waffle cones fresh! Yum!
Amazing ice cream flavours and their cones are Fresh and crispy. I was delighted to try the rose water cardamom flavour and the wild berry flavours. They also do crepes - with plant based ham and steak and can make them vegan. I was really impressed with the quality and will definitely be back!!
This is really great vegan ice cream! I've tried a lot of vegan ice cream and this is the best I've found in the Twin Cities. It is creamy and leaves no weird aftertaste like many of them do. No grittiness, just nice and smooth. The flavors are great as well. We've been in a few times and have tried the Mint Chip (my go-to), Coffee, Strawberry, Lemon Bar, Pistachio, and the Rocky Road. They are all delicious and I would highly recommend all of them! My fave was the Rocky Road - they are clearly great at chocolate ice cream. The waffle cones are always delicious too. The service is efficient and helpful. We'll continue coming back - thanks for doing what you do!
Employees were super patient and allowed me to sample several flavors before ultimately ordering a complex mix of flavors in a cone! I don’t remember the last time I had a waffle cone but this shop was entirely vegan so I went for it! We also tried a savory crepe (ham and cheese) and it was delicious!! Cold brew coffee was very reasonably priced. Indoor and outdoor seating along with bathrooms available. This place has it all! Stop in and you’ll see!
Dairy free person's dream come true! It was so nice to just order anything on the menu and not worry, and everything was delicious. I had a cinnamon crepe and a banana cream, would recommend both. Also had a half scoop each of two ice creams and the lemon was my favorite. Can't wait to visit again! Drove down from Ham Lake and will absolutely make the drive again.
This is some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had. I don’t necessarily look for vegan food but this place is close and I thought I’d stop in. The ube (purple sweet potato) is amazing. Never had anything like it. Plus the added bonus of not feeling like I’d eaten a whole meal. I will definitely be back.
